South Africa - Hiking Trails in and Around Pretoria and Johannesburg. As one of the few meteorite crater trails in the world, the hike provides spectacular views of the impact crater with its shallow, saline lake on a relatively easy to navigate path, while you walk among zebras, kudus, impalas and hartebeests

The impact crater is South Africa’s first open-air environmental museum, with twenty points of interest along the trail explaining the impact crater and the history of salt mining that took place in the crater.

The trail leads around the crater, currently 1.3 kilometers in diameter and 100 meters deep as seen from the top of the ridge.
