Hike near wildebeest, zebra, bontebok and other game in a lovely nature reserve south of Johannesburg with majestic open grassland and hills for great views of the area
The hiking trails near Heidelberg are a wonderful outdoor destination for hikers who love the views of the nearby Vaal Dam, South Africa’s second biggest lake by area and fourth largest by volume.
This trail is like the Panorama Trail, with great views of the Vaal Dam lake, but with only three hills (koppies) that need to be navigated, with an elevation difference ranging from 60 to 100 meters each. You will find game in the valley to the left of the trail after some 7 kilometers of hiking.
