Walk in the heart of Johannesburg in a nature reserve with wonderful views of the area from the hills overseeing the center of the city
The nature reserve is located in a sprawling and picturesque suburb of Johannesburg. The Koppies can only be visited as part of guided group tours that are organized on the weekends, as the area is locked during the week.
You will be navigating a few hills for nice views of the area and a visit to the ancient furnace is included in the hike. The furnace was excavated in 1963, which resulted in the promulgation of the area as a National Heritage Site in 1968.
