Explore birds and butterflies near the heart of Johannesburg in a fabulous reserve with small lakes, open grassland, bushland, an excellent restaurant and easy hikes in flat terrain
The nature reserve is perhaps one of Johannesburg’s best-kept hiking secrets. We enjoyed our numerous visits to the reserve as the birds, colorful vegetation, the dams (lakes) and varied landscapes make the area a nice spot for easy nature walking.
The yellow trail starts from the picnic area at the Fish Eagle Dam and follows a path to the John Voelckner bird hide.
