Hike with zebras, giraffes, ostriches and other wildlife on well-marked and maintained paths in a hilly landscape, overlooking Pretoria’s surroundings
The reserve was established as the African continent’s first wildlife sanctuary.
The reserve is home to a variety of “woody” vegetation and grasses on ridges varying in steepness. The reserve’s three established trails are well-marked with white, red or yellow signs, with painted shoe prints showing the direction that you follow.
The trail is in the northern part of the reserve and provides sufficient seclusion to spot wildlife and enjoy interesting viewpoints. The bat cave is 15 minutes from the start from where you can spot the Voortrekker Monument.
