Hike with zebras, giraffes, ostriches and other wildlife on well-marked and maintained paths in a hilly landscape, overlooking Pretoria’s surroundings
The reserve was established as the African continent’s first wildlife sanctuary.
The reserve is home to a variety of “woody” vegetation and grasses on ridges varying in steepness. The reserve’s three established trails are well-marked with white, red or yellow signs, with painted shoe prints showing the direction that you follow.
If the 10.1-kilometer Yellow Trail is too short for your taste, the Yellow Trail can be extended with sections of the White and Red Trails. A GPS track is available that combines the three trails into a 16-kilometer long hike for a full day of hiking.
