Walk on the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountain Range for a great view of the valley while relaxing at a mountain lodge known for its superior cuisine and breathtaking views
The lodge is not far from the Cradle of Humankind, the impressive Askari Game Lodge & Spa (with its lions, hippos, elephants, giraffes, over 500 wildebeests, and excellent hiking opportunities), several microbreweries, the Van Gaalen Cheese Farm and its hiking and biking trails as well as the nearby Rustig and Shelter Rock hiking trails.
The Red Trail starts from the waterhole and salt-lick block at the lodge that is home, on a good day, to mountain reedbuck, nyala and kudu. We did not see these regular visitors to the lodge, so we compensated by taking a magnificent game drive at the nearby Askari Game Lodge & Spa.
